Yes, it's been over a year, I know, and if not for the lovely Meredith's prompting this may never have been updated! However, here goes:

How to be: Charley from A Single Man



Charley was one of my favourite characters of the last year. The way she was portrayed by Julianne Moore gave her such an interesting and compelling background, and I was just completely obsessed with her relationship with George, Colin Firth’s character. I just loved this movie and this character so much.

1. Be lighthearted although you are miserable... most of the time, anyway.
2. Drink only Tanqueray gin, and lots of it... because you like the colour of the bottle.
3. Spend hours putting on your makeup every day.
4. “More smoking and more drinking and screw it all!”
5. Fall in love with your gay best friend and yell at him when he doesn’t reciprocate your feelings.
6. Comfort your GBF when he loses his partner – all the while hoping that it is finally your time with him.
7. Be a drama queen.
8. Always, always, always live in the past. Living in the past, after all, is your future.
